The wife of owner Clark Hunt has sent a strong message to quarterback following their disappointment.
The Chiefs were beaten 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans last Sunday, ending their hopes of winning the Vincent Lombardi trophy for a record third consecutive time.
of a three-time MVP winner, throwing two interceptions and getting sacked six times by the Eagles’ menacing defence. He attempted to take responsibility for the Chiefs’ failure to gain any momentum with their offensive drives, having been 34-0 down as late as the third quarter.
“I just got to take all the blame for [the turnovers],” Mahomes said, with one of his interceptions leading to a 38-yard touchdown from Cooper DeJean.
“That’s 14 points that I kind of gave them, and it’s hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl. Just didn’t play to my standard, and I have to be better the next time.”
In the aftermath of the loss, Mahomes took to social media, sending a shoutout to Chiefs fans: “Appreciate all the love and support from Chiefs Kingdom. I let y’all down today.
“I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me. We will be back.”
While Mahomes was left to lick his wounds, Tavia Hunt – the wife of Chiefs supremo Clark Hunt – tried to lift the downhearted QB’s spirits.

Tavia, who is often seen by her husband’s side at Arrowhead Stadium with their daughters Ava and Gracie, reacted by sending Mahomes a message of support on social media.
“That’s our QB1,” Hunt wrote on X. “Win as a team. Lose as a team.”
Such a promise might be easier to keep for Mahomes than it would be for other quarterbacks, given the Chiefs went 17-3 when including the regular season and postseason matches.

It was also the third season in a row that the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl – only three teams had achieved the same record, with the New England Patriots the last team to do it in 2016-18.
Mahomes himself is still only 29 but already has three Super Bowl rings, as well as being a two-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler.
It won’t take him long to recharge his batteries before the postseason begins, as the Andy Reid and the Chiefs look to consign their unhappy Super Bowl memories to the past.
