The Masked Singer’s Joel Dommett shares health update on ITV co-star Davina McCall

Joel Dommett and Harriet Rose, who are both hosts of The Masked Singer UK, have shared an update on their co-star Davina McCall’s recovery from brain surgery with ITV viewers.

During their appearance on Loose Women, on Thursday (Februray 13), alongside panelists Charlene White, Sunetra Sunetra, Gloria Hunniford, and Nadia Sawalha, the duo were asked about Davina’s health. The TV judge recently revealed she had a colloid cyst removed from her brain, which led to a stint in intensive care before she could recuperate at home.

Harriet, who also presents The Masked Singer: The After Mask, confirmed she has been keeping in touch with Davina. She told the panel: “I’ve text her [Davina] a few times she’s one of the best people on this earth, she is so positive and amazing and was so fantastic with me on the show and she seems really well.”

Comedian and TV presenter Joel added: “Me and my wife [Hannah Cooper] have gone over to her house since and she’s doing really well and what a mad thing to happen to you in your life and it completely changes your outlook and she’s a very positive person anyway so…”

Eight weeks post-surgery, Davina joined Dragons’ Den star Steve Bartlett for a candid discussion about her experience, where she shed light on the risks associated with benign tumours, reports .

On her podcast Begin Again, Davina McCall has spoken out to dispel any misconceptions around benign tumours being harmless. She described setting up a WhatsApp group as a precaution for the worst-case scenario.

Sharing her unease, Davina disclosed on the same podcast: “I said, ‘Look, I’ve got to plan for it if it doesn’t go according to plan’. When I’d spoken to the doctors, they talked about things like stroke, epilepsy, these being risks.”

She then aired further complication that had been relayed to her by doctors, stating: “Nicking an artery or a blood vessel in the brain and having a bleed… so there were a lot of things that could be a risk.”

Davina, who is a mum of three – Holly, aged 23, Tilly, aged 21, and Chester, aged 18 – also said that her life post-surgery would “never be the same” again.

She asserted that the scary experience has spurred on lots positive change. After surgery, Davina resolutely declared on her podcast: “There’s that saying, ‘A life lived in fear is a life half-lived’.”
