Presenter revealed he was terrified of dying to his father after a two-week health battle.

Roman, 32, was speaking about his recovery from an illness, something he suspects was Coivd-19. He revealed he had started having panic attacks that were so bad he thought he was dying.

His conversation about his own health comes nearly 12 months after he and Martin, 63, discussed death on April 2024 episode where they discussed the inevitable and Martin’s fears about his health following a brain tumour at the age of just 34.

Discussing his own health scare, Roman said on his podcast FFS! My Dad is Martin Kemp: “I’ve had to go to the gym this morning, because I haven’t been for two weeks because I nearly died. I thought I nearly died last two weeks, it was insane. I had .

“I have this thing where. I’ve started having mad panic attacks, like serious panic attacks. Anyone whose had a panic attack knows exactly how it goes. All of a sudden your brain tells you, ‘You’re gonna die’ like ‘Call the ambulance right now, you’re about to die, you’re going to have a heart attack, you’re going to pass out’.

“And then every night for two weeks my heart was going. I was falling asleep with it and waking up with it so my body’s on edge the entire time, I can hear it in my ears.”

Roman’s anxiety was made worse, he said, because Martin had a brain tumour at the age he is now. “So then I’m thinking in my head, what’s going on here?”

Spandau Ballet star Martin asked if he had had a check to discover what might be going on, to which his son said he hadn’t as he had not had any symptoms.

The discussion came nearly a year after the pair spoke about the issue of mortality and long they think they have left.

Martin said he reckoned he only had around 10 years left, but added quickly that he would be happy with his “lot” if he made it to 80. “I don’t know how long I’ve got left but I think, since I was the age of 34, when I went through all of that brain tumour scare I spent two years of my life thinking I was going to die

“I think after that, everything else, every day, every year, every month, that I have lived, every experience that I’ve had has been a bonus.

“When I was 34 and I went through that brain tumour stuff I was practically resigned to the fact that I was going to die, but I was quite happy with my lot because I had lived the most incredible experiences. I’d lived stuff that people were dreaming about doing. Every year that I live, every month that I’m alive is like a bonus.”

DON’T MISS [REPORT]

This isn’t the first time the Kemps have discussed their health fears as Martin continues to work as a DJ.

On The Therapy Couch podcast, Roman said of his close working and personal relationship with his father: “We don’t see each other as much as people think, we speak on the phone nearly every day, but my dad DJs now. No banter, he sends me videos and it’s rammo up and down the country – he does these 80s nights.”

Roman Kemp has also been frank about his own health. Last year he said he talked about taking anti-depressants on his page.

He wrote: “It has now been 4 months since I stopped taking anti-depressants and it’s safe to say they’re out of my system. Something I have taken since I was 15 years old

“Now while I’m still learning about why I suddenly what to cry more and may get a bit snappier at my friends, I’m excited at the thought of understanding what the emotional side of me is really like. I’m neither for or against taking anti-depressants, I’m about what is right for YOU and if it helps you then go for it.”
