Netflix subscribers heartbroken as two beloved adaptations to leave streaming service

Fans of Jane Austen may be revelling in the new series Miss Austen, but they are set for a blow as two popular adaptations, including Death Comes to Pemberley and Emma Thompson’s timeless Sense and Sensibility, are due to be taken off .

The streaming giant is constantly updating its catalogue, with the contracts for these shows and films set to come to an end.

Based on the PD James novel, Death Comes to Pemberley is a murder mystery series that sees Lizzie and Mr Darcy embroiled in a death at Pemberley, casting suspicion on everyone, particularly Lydia’s wayward husband Mr Wickham.

Originally broadcast on the before making its way to , the show will sadly depart from the platform on Tuesday, followed by Sense and Sensibility a day later.

The 1995 rendition of Sense and Sensibility, featuring Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant alongside Emma, tells the tale of two sisters navigating challenging circumstances and grappling with their own doubts and excitement after falling in love.

It clinched the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and remains one of the most cherished Jane Austen adaptations to date.

Social media is abuzz with viewers expressing their love for some stellar adaptations. One fan exclaimed: “I don’t know why it took me so long to watch Matthew Rhys as Mr. Darcy in the ’s adaptation of PD James’ Death Comes to Pemberley but he may cure my flu.”

Another commented: “Listen to me, Matthew Rhys was ACTUALLY the best Fitzwilliam Dancy and it will bother me FOREVER that we didn’t get to see him play the original source material instead of Death Comes to Pemberley.”
