NDP asking integrity commissioner to investigate Ford’s trip to Washington

Stiles believes Ford is using the trip for partisan purposes and wants the integrity commissioner to investigate

Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles says she is planning to write to the province’s integrity commissioner to ask him to look into Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford’s trip to Washington, D.C.

Ford and the country’s other premiers travelled there this week to push back against U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to impose steep tariffs on Canadian goods.

Ford travelled there as premier, but he is also in the midst of campaigning in a snap provincial election that he called.

After the trip, Ford’s social media accounts posted a video showing clips of him in Washington that ends with the Progressive Conservative party logo.

Stiles believes Ford is using the trip for partisan purposes and wants the integrity commissioner to investigate.

A spokesperson for Ford describes the video as “footage of the premier being the premier” and says those types of clips are routinely used in political social media content.
