A candidate on has reportedly quit the show leaving the billionare businessman stunned.

According to reports, one of the 18 candidates has given up their chance of securing £250,000 investment and personal mentorship from .

This week’s task will see the business hopefuls travel to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and are under the clock to secure nine items found in the area, spending the least amount of money possible.

But the competition has proved too much for one contestant, who claimed “this isn’t for me”.

A TV source told MailOnline: “The Apprentice isn’t for everyone and some of the candidates only realise that once they’re in the process.

“One contestant this series decided to leave the competition early telling Lord Sugar “this isn’t for me.”

“It came as a total shock in the boardroom – some of the cast now believe the candidate wanted to avoid the potential embarrassment of being fired.”

The source added the candidate in question wanted to “save Lord Sugar the trouble” by walking out.

A source close to the candidate suggested they quit because it would not have been fair for the others taking part in the competition.

Express Online has contacted an Apprentice spokesperson for comment.

Previous series have seen candidates quit the show altogether including Shannon Martin who left the process in 2023, telling Lord Sugar in the boardroom: “I just don’t think it’s the environment for me.”

During the same season, Reece Donnelly was axed from the competition after breaking show rules by drinking alcohol on a flight to Dubai.

Shama Amin stood back in 2022 because of the pain she experienced with her rheumatoid arthritis.

The Apprentice airs tonight on One at 9pm
