Highly acclaimed TV chef Tom Kerridge has revealed his trick to the perfect every time.

While the breakfast choice seems to be a go-to for many as their first meal of the day, the 51-year-old chef revealed that doing one thing is the trick to getting them just right every time.

During a chat with Lisa Snowdon and Andy Goldstein on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast, the chef took listeners on a step by step guide of how to make the delicious breakfast staple. He began by saying that before doing anything else, we should first simply stir our ‘just below simmering’ water with a spoon.

The culinary expert then let listeners in on his cooking trick, as he said: “Then, using a small little coffee cup, (add a little) splash of white wine vinegar or distilled malt vinegar, crack the egg into the cup (of vinager).”

In what was his final step of his ‘best poached eggs’ guide, he added: “Pour it (the egg) from the cup, into the spinning water so that way it helps to hold (it’s shape).”

One of the supposed key benefits of Tom’s method is that it helps the egg to form a more solid shape once floating in the water as the acidity of the vinegar helps egg whites set.

In a career that has spanned across three decades, Tom has established himself as one of the most highly-regarded chef’s in his industry having first started life as a cook when he began working in restaurants.

However, after spending years working his way up in restaurants, it was in 2005 that he opened a place of his own, The Hand and Flowers. Now boasting a hugely impressive two Michelin stars, it is set to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary later this year. Since opening his first premises nearly two decades ago, he has gone on to open a further six sites since.

While many will have enjoyed dining in his array of restaurants down the years, most will know Tom for his frequent appearances on-screen down the years. In recent times, he has appeared on the likes of the Great British Menu and Saturday Kitchen.
