According to Avant Homes, the condition and age of a house are the most important determining factors for those thinking of buying a home in the .
Experts at estate agent Petty Son and Prestwich said: “What you like, others will hate. Pure and simple. That’s fine if you’re staying put, but not the best idea if you’re thinking of moving on.”

“Not only are the chances high that buyers will dislike the choice of wallpaper pattern, but it’s a fair bet some will be put off by the thought [of stripping] wallpaper,” the estate agents explained.
“Removing wallpaper can be an arduous task, and creating unnecessary work for your buyers is not a savvy move.”

Another common mistake that’s worth avoiding is one that often takes place during bathroom renovations. It’s suggested that you steer away from spending money on removing a bath and replacing it with a shower, as this has the potential to massively devalue your home.
The estate agent warned that “buyers may be put off a property without a bath”, which therefore dwindles the pool of buyers.
She went on to say: “The simple fact that so many people still enjoy luxuriating in hot water means you’re likely to slow down your sale when the time comes to move on.”
To enhance your chance of a faster sale and gaining wider appeal, having a shower installed inside of a bath is the best bet.
Having a bath would also allow your property to be open to those with young children and those with accessibility requirements who may not be able to stand freely in a shower.
Lastly, something that could quite easily put buyers off your home is the type and outlook of the flooring throughout the house. The floor is an integral part of any home, no matter the size of the property.

The publication previously warned sellers that inconsistencies in flooring in the main areas of a home, such as a kitchen and living room, could be a huge red flag for potential buyers.
The publication noted: “When it comes to the main areas of your house, such as hallways and living rooms, consistent hardwood flooring is desired.
“One of the worst mistakes people can make is having two different types of hardwood flooring in high-traffic areas of the house. The most important tip is to keep everything consistent.”
It’s best to consider having one singular style of flooring that flows throughout the hallway and effortlessly into the main rooms of your home without the interruption of other flooring.
Making changes to flooring can be a big expense for many buyers, so ensuring it’s in top condition beforehand could encourage buyers to make an offer.
