Snow forecast maps show England blitz by 348-mile wall of winter weather

Millions of Brits will continue to see frosty and icy conditions over the coming days, with a 348-mile swathe of the country particularly affected, according to an online forecaster.

From Inverness in northern Scotland to Llanidloes in Mid Wales, with Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, and Glasgow in between, February 16 will deliver brutal wintery conditions, WX Charts predicts.

Temperatures will hover around 0C in southern areas, with the mercury dropping to -2C or even -4C in parts as February 16 becomes February 17.

The only part of the country that will see temperatures consistently north of freezing is the far south west of the country.

According to the , there will also be a stiff breeze for most around the UK on February 16.

Coastal areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland may see wind speeds approaching 40mph, while further inland and further south those winds may drop to around 18-28mph.

Those in northern areas of England, southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, should expect rainfall on February 16. Likwise, those in the south-west should expect a damp day, too.

Today:

Often cloudy on Wednesday with some patchy rain, drizzle and hill snow continuing in the northeast. Drier elsewhere with some bright or sunny intervals developing, though still feeling rather chilly.

Tonight:

Cloudy overnight with patchy rain and showers along North Sea coasts. Drier in the west with a frost and patchy mist and fog developing under clear skies.

Thursday:

Rather cloudy again with patchy rain and hill snow in the northeast. The best of any brightness in the northwest. Cloudier in the far southwest with rain arriving later. Cool.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining rather cloudy with patchy rain and hill snow at times. An increasing risk of some heavier rain in the far west on Friday. A cold easterly breeze continuing.
