The holds in the future of the UK’s “special relationship” with the US due to his bond with , a source has claimed.

, who’s recently been dubbed the UK’s “secret weapon” to forging a better relationship with the US President, is said to be “happy to play his role and support where needed”, according to royal sources.

was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States last month and also spoke to Prime Minister Sir .

In what was the first conversation the two leaders had since Mr Trump’s inauguration, they agreed to meet “soon” after holding talks on trade and the economy.

Meanwhile, during the same week, the Prince of Wales met privately with the Prime Minister, as is the annual convention for an heir to the throne, welcoming Sir to Kensington Palace.

It followed a previous meeting between the new US President and the Prince of Wales in France, after which Mr Trump gushed about the heir to the throne.

He described the future King as a “good man” and “very handsome” adding that he is doing a “fantastic job”.

Now a White House source said that the two men’s special bond could forge a path for a new era between the UK and the US.

They told that William’s emerging relationship with Mr Trump is “key” as the royal now holds a “really powerful, really important” influence in the future of the “special relationship” as the Royal Family are set to be deployed on the “most important soft power mission of the 21st century”, according to the outlet.

The source said: “The biggest thing right now is figuring out how to make sure the relationship [between the US and the UK] doesn’t go off track and we try to repair some of the damage. That is where I think the King and can really help.”

While the US President’s affection for the Royal Family is “well-documented”, the key focus is now on the Prince of Wales, who has been forging his own relationships with world leaders in recent years and according to the outlet, “now at the request of the Government too”.

Meanwhile, a palace source said that William “realises the important role he and his family play”, adding: “It’s important that we’re not involved in day-to-day politics, but when the time is right and there’s an ask for support from His Majesty’s government, the Prince is happy to play his role and support where needed.”

“There is a definite willingness to support where there is an ask.”

Another source told the outlet: “The President looks to the King, and now William, for things that are going on in the UK.”
