Aides kept Meghan’s travel plans under wraps for security reasons, but it is understood it had always been planned she would leave the event after the fifth day.

Following the Games being held in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017) and Sydney (2018), the Hague (when -19 pushed the event back to 2022) and Düsseldorf (2023), the upcoming tournament in Canada will be the first time it has returned to a previous host country

The Winter edition of the Invictus Games runs until Sunday with a huge closing ceremony featuring musical performances.
