Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘elephant in the room’ at Invictus Games

A royal commentator has claimed there was a missing elephant in the room at Invictus Games.

The Daily Mail’s Ephraim Hardcastle said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “wasn’t to be seen” at the event despite attending the contest the last time it was hosted in Canada in 2017.

Mr Hardcastle issued a damning indictment of Mr Trudeau’s relationship with the Harry and that had taken a decidedly negative turn since 2019. He explained: “Like the elephant in the room, Harry and Meghan’s Invictus Games ballyhoo ignores Canada’s lame-duck premier Justin Trudeau.

“There were reports he would provide shelter for the couple after Megxit. But the ex-best friend wasn’t to be seen this time. The Sussexes have avoided him since photos of him in ‘blackface’ appeared in 2019. Trudeau watched the games’ opening at home before heading to Paris to talk AI with Macron. How the mighty are fallen.”

There has been renewed attention on Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, in recent days as the Duke of Sussex opened the seventh Invictus Games in Canada.

As the games have gotten underway there has been intense microanalysis of every move the Sussexes are making as they try to make 2025 a less tumultuous year than 2024 and 2023.

Speaking to the assembled athletes at the opening ceremony, Harry commented on the current state of the planet and condemned the “weak moral character of the world” before thanking veterans who had served their countries.

He added: “At this moment when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world, the values you embody—the way you carry yourselves—not only at the Invictus Games, but each and every day… your courage, your resilience, your humanity… illuminate a path forward for us all. And for that, we thank you.”

DON’T MISS [REPORT]

Whilst the Invictus Games will likely have been one of Harry’s key projects for 2025, it’s build-up was not without a little tumult after he and Meghan lost of one of their dogs just a few weeks before the event.

Speaking to People, dog owner Ali Harper spoke about what it was like to speak with Harry: “Harry came right over and sat down right next to Thorn and kneeled down and started petting him and said how much he misses his dog. And said thank you very much for what we do with Thorn.”
