A furious row erupted on as one councillor defended health minister Ashley Dalton’s remarks that people should be allowed to identify as llamas.
Dominic Moffitt appeared on the show to chat to hosts and Emily Carver after Dalton insisted every person be treated with respect and dignity. Unearthed tweets show the MP was asked if people should be taken seriously if they identify as a llama.
She replied: “Yes. And treat [them] with respect and dignity.” She added: “I think people should be able to define their own gender and that society should be set up to support not hinder that.”
Now Dominic has weighed in on the debate – but the GB News hosts weren’t impressed with his opinions.
Tom asked: “First of all, do you think that people can identify as other species?”, to which he replied: “Yes, I absolutely believe, just as Ashley does, that anybody has the right to self-identify as they want, and that is a right that we across the Labour Party believe in.”

Emily cut across him to ask: “Seriously, Dominic?” as Tom fumed: “Sorry, are you actually being serious now? This is not a bit?”
“Of course I am, Tom,” the councillor replied. “People have the right to identify as they want.”
Emily was left hysterical as he elaborated: “What Ashley was doing was using light-hearted humour to make a very serious point, which is that everybody has got the right to identify however they want.”
Emily said: “Dominic, seriously… I do wonder whether in 10 years time you’ll still believe this.”

He said: “Just because somebody’s got the right to identify as a llama doesn’t mean they actually do identify as a llama. The right to do so if you truly, in good faith, identify as a llama, is something you have the right to do.”
Emily quizzed him: “So does everyone else have to accept it? If you say, ‘I’m a llama’, do I then have to say, ‘You’re a llama’ too? Do I have to affirm you? Do you not think you’re mentally unwell if you believe you are a llama?”
“I don’t believe you’re mentally unwell, no,” Dominic replied with a huge grin on his face as Tom admitted: “I’m actually lost for words here. I thought you’d come on here and say something like, ‘Obviously she shouldn’t have said it like that’, but no this is a full-throttle defence! I’m actually gobsmacked!”
