Chido Obi-Martin might just be looking back on the decision to leave as a mistake.
It was confirmed last year that .
The youngster scored for fun in the academy, including an astonishing 10-goal haul in a single game for the under-16s in November 2023.
He arrived in Manchester amid plenty of excitement and even expectation, but just under six months down the line, he’s yet to be seen in the senior set-up.
That’s despite the ongoing troubles United have had, particularly in attack, since took over from at the backend of 2024.
Instead, all of Obi-Martin’s appearances in a United shirt so far have been reserved for youth team matches – he simply hasn’t been given a look in.
His lack of first-team experience at United is made all the more peculiar by the reported wages the teenager is pocketing, with claiming he’s banking “tens of thousands of pounds” per week.
The exact figure isn’t known, but some reports have suggested it could be as high as £30,000.

Perhaps there’s a sense of resentment on Obi-Martin’s side, as he’s forced to watch his former academy chums light it up on the biggest stages while he’s still stuck in the United youth team set-up.
