BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent halts show as Jon Kay interrupts segment

BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent was quick to halt Wednesday’s show as Jon Kay quickly joined a segment.

The presenter, 53, stayed in the studio while co-star Jon, 55, headed outside to interview some young guests who were trying to encourage people to either cycle or walk to destinations in order to avoid pollution.

Back in the studio, Sally heard from weather presenter and just as the segment ended a breathless Jon was seen entering the studio again as he quickly sat on the red sofa.

Sally quipped: “Carol, that is perfect timing!” as she told Jon: “You had to really get on your bike then, out of breath slightly maybe?”

To which a breathless Jon joked: “Absolutely not!” as Sally continued: “Not wearing a microphone? Shall I talk for this bit?”

However, Jon quickly replied: “I’m on!” pointing out his microphone to which Sally was left amazed as she exclaimed: “How did you manage to do that?” to which he quipped: “I’m just incredibly organised!”

Elsewhere on Wednesday’s show, Sally was quick to share her concerns for colleague Jon. During Wednesday’s instalment, the duo returned to our TV screens as they presented the day’s top stories.

However, it was one segment that got the pair talking as they were joined by the chief executive of the International Parking Community Will Hurley and Simon Williams from the RAC as they discussed parking fines.

Jon then took the opportunity to speak about his recent parking experience as he admitted: “I keep thinking about that car park we were in yesterday” to which Sally replied: “I know.” Jon continued: “And I paid for that extra hour.”

Expressing her worries, Sally went on to say: “I am a little bit worried. Did you pay for that extra hour? I paid for the first bit.”

To which Jon claimed: “I did, I paid for that extra hour.” Sally wasn’t convinced as she asked: “Are you sure?” as Jon said: “We’ll let you know.” Meanwhile Sally warned: “You better not get a fine.”

Making light of the situation Jon joked: “Should we take Will’s number?” as Sally explained: “One way to avoid parking problems is of course to leave your car at home and cycle or walk instead” to which Jon added: “Maybe we should have done that.”

Breakfast airs from 6am on One and iPlayer
