Amy Dowden inundated with support as she issues emotional baby update after cancer battle

opened up about her plans to have a baby, but revealed it is too dangerous to consider at this point in time.

The star, 34, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, less than one year after she married her husband Ben Jones.

After learning of her stage three diagnosis, Amy had a mastectomy and chemotherapy, along with fertility treatment. After bravely freezing five of her embryos, Amy announced that she had “no evidence of disease” in an emotional post shared in February 2024.

Before starting chemotherapy, the Welsh choreographer discovered she would enter menopause, leading her to opt for egg retrieval to maintain the chance of having children with Ben later down the line.

In a new update, Amy shared her plans to hopefully “be someone’s mum” one day.

When asked about motherhood on ITV’s Loose Women, she shared: “So at the moment it would be too soon. I had a hormone-fed cancer, so I have been put into early menopause and it would be too dangerous now to consider it.

“But I really want to be a mum, I’ve always wanted to be a mum. We do have five embryos, and I hope one day, if it’s safe to do so, I do get the privilege and honour to be someone’s mum.”

Loose Women viewers rushed to support Amy as one wrote: “Beautiful and great interview.”

Another penned: “Great interview. Amy you are a fighter and an inspiration,” as a third echoed: “Lovely to see you with the ladies today. You’re looking really well Amy.”

After her diagnosis, Amy was forced with pull out of participating in in 2023.

She made an inspiring comeback to the dance competition in September last year, only to exit early due to an injury. Her partner, , performed with Lauren Oakley for the rest of the series, with the duo making it to the final.

Despite her determination, , having recently reflected on the excruciating pain she endures due to Crohn’s disease.

Amy was 19-years-old when she discovered she had Crohn’s disease and now works to raise awareness about Crohn’s & Colitis UK and advocate for better care for people living with the conditions.

Speaking on Aimee Fuller’s Monday Mile podcast last month, the professional dancer revealed that she often blacks out due to the intense pain it causes.

Amy said: “Symptoms for myself is severe vomiting, constipation, pain, which is excruciating pain, which makes me pass out. Which if you think, a woman is designed for childbirth, you don’t pass out during childbirth, I can have four to five black outs, because the pain is that much that my body can’t control [it].”

Detailing the harrowing effects of the condition, Amy added: “I get swollen eyes, inflammation to my joints, my skin, but I’m very very lucky that I work with the most incredible team and a lot of my severe symptoms are now under control and in remission.

“I’m so blessed to have such an incredible team, but unfortunately, Crohn’s disease is a chronic illness that I will live with for the rest of my life.”
