The royal reportedly appeared undeterred and smiled as she walked past, waving and saying hello to other inmates leaning through the windows of a Portacabin before entering.
The Princess met with former offenders as well as people still serving who had been helped by the charity.
Speaking to staff from the unit, the royal said: “It is great that you are looking at the mother’s wellbeing as well. The best thing for baby is to have a mother whose emotional needs and wellbeing is met as well.”
