plan to oversee another wave of brutal redundancies as part of ‘s continued cost-cutting process, according to reports. Around 250 employees have already lost their jobs since Ratcliffe purchased a 27.70 per cent stake last February, which has since increased to 28.94 per cent with further investment.

However, Mail Sport that the Ineos kingpin is preparing to offload between 100 and 200 more staff members as part of an ongoing review of United’s operations.

It’s claimed the decision is with the summer transfer window in mind, with United set to financially back at the start of a mammoth rebuild on the pitch.

have refused to comment.

The Red Devils have achieved record revenues in the past three years but have also lost £300million, a trend that is considered unsustainable.

Around 1,110 individuals worked for the club when Ratcliffe first became part-owner, a significantly higher total than any other Premier League outfit.

Despite the first set of redundancies and Ratcliffe injecting around £241m out of his pocket, costs remain high on and off the pitch.

There is also the matter of a new state-of-the-art stadium as plans progress after the Trafford regeneration project received Government backing.

United are believed to prefer a new 100,000-capacity stadium on the same site rather than redeveloping Old Trafford but haven’t yet confirmed how they plan to fund the project.

The report adds that United staff haven’t yet been made aware of the plans, but they are expected to be formally informed in the near future.

Ratcliffe’s vision is to streamline the club across all departments to ensure business flows more smoothly.

However, there is also an eagerness to offer Amorim the backing he needs to stage an aggressive revamp of United’s underperforming squad at the end of the season.

Patrick Dorgu arrived from Lecce for an initial £25m in January alongside defender Ayden Heaven. Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon also signed a pre-contract agreement.

But United’s financial restrictions imposed by the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules were made clear by the club opting against recruiting attacking reinforcements.

Marcus Rashford and Antony left Old Trafford on loan, but Amorim replaced neither, intensifying goals over his side’s lack of goals.

The club is taking more caution over recruitment after years of reckless spending that has left them teasing the margins of financial rules.

Amorim should be in line for a fruitful first summer transfer window, though, at the cost of other members of the club.
