One person has died, and four others are being treated, after an airplane collision occurred near the Scottsdale airport in Arizona on Feb. 10, authorities said.
Airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester said in a press conference that at 2:39 p.m., a midsize business jet arriving from Austin, Texas, collided with another midsize business jet located on private property.
Kuester added that it appeared “that the left main gear failed upon landing, resulting in the accident.”
Additionally, Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio confirmed that five people were involved in the accident, with one of them pronounced dead at the scene. Folio said two people were transported to local trauma centers and are in critical condition. One person sustained non-life threatening injuries but required hospital evaluation. He added that the fourth patient refused treatment.
In an earlier press conference, Folio had said their thoughts and prayers went out to everybody involved, “We’re doing everything we can to extricate and save the one soul that’s still on board.”
