The Duchy of Cornwall – a vast property portfolio headed by – hopes to construct the sprawling estate, dubbed South East Faversham, near Brenley Corner, between the M2 and A2.

However, many surrounding communities have opposed the idea with residents having a say on how it could impact the area.

Local campaigner and Boughton resident Peter Williams argues that such opportunities are all very well, but he wants to see the Duchy respond to the worries raised.

“The ruining of our community goes on, and our objections remain the same,” Mr Williams said.

“They’ve done very little to woo the that are going to be most affected by this application.

“There is already a green lung between Faversham and the villages and this application will erode that. The difference between listening and reacting is very dramatic and very important in planning.”

Ben Murphy, estates director for said there are now more specifics which they can share with residents, and they want to hear from as many people as possible.

Mr Murphy said: “We’re always open to suggestions and adaptations, and this is a 20-year masterplan delivery proposal we’re putting forward. We have been listening – and we hope that will be the centre of this engagement.

“What we’re saying is ‘you’ve spoken, we’ve listened, we have much more detail to share with you now’ and we’re looking forward to hearing from as many people as possible.”

The Duchy has previously said South East Faversham will include “a diverse mix of housing”, with at least 875 affordable homes, of which 437 will be for social rent.
