‘Delicious’ air fryer granola packed with ‘gut-loving fibre’ that’s ready in 15 minutes

Granola is a hugely popular breakfast choice, as it makes a delicious topping for yoghurt or porridge.

With so many different varities available, from chocolate to dried fruits, it’s ideal for adding a delicious crunch to your meals.

However, as with most things, buying it straight from the may not be the healthiest choice.

Despite being seen as a option, many shop-bought brands are high in sugar, which isn’t always the best way to start your day.

Thankfully, it’s so easy to make granola at home – and it’s made even simpler if you’ve got an air fryer.

Foodie content creator Emily English, also known as on , says you can whip up your own granola in the air fryer.

With less sugar than shop-bought varities, and packed with ‘gut-loving fibre’, it’s an excellent choice if you want to get your granola fix in a healthier way.

Sharing her simple in a video, she said: “I have been craving a good bowl of yoghurt and granola but struggle to find one I enjoy off the shelves that aren’t laden with sugar. This is my super simple granola that contains 5g of protein and lots of gut-loving fibre.

“Using egg whites allows for the most gorgeous clusters which are simply divine.”

For an extra hit of fibre, she also shared a for chia seed compote that pairs perfectly with the granola and a serving of Greek yoghurt too.

Air fryer granola 

Ingredients

  • 200g jumbo oats
  • 100g mixed seeds ie pumpkin, sunflower
  • 150g of whole mixed hazelnuts and cashews
  • 100g runny peanut butter
  • Two egg whites
  • 80ml maple syrup or honey
  • 10 drops of Stevia or sweetener
  • Optional: Cinnamon or spices of choice

For the chia compote:

  • 400g bag of frozen summer fruits
  • Two tbsp chia seeds
  • Optional: Stevia or sweetener drops

AIR FRYER LOW SUGAR GRANOLA I have been craving a good bowl of yoghurt and granola but struggle to find one I enjoy off the shelves that arent laden with sugar. This is my super simple granola recipe that contains 5g of protein and lots of gut-loving fibre. Using egg whites allows for the most gorgeous clusters which are simply divine. Pair with my chia compote and pour over thick yoghurt. Perfect taken into work, tipped onto a yoghurt pot and will store for 1 month. To serve 20 portions at 160kcal per serving. 5g of protein and only 2.6g of sugar. 200g jumbo oats 100g mixed seeds ie pumpkin, sunflower 150g of whole mixed hazelnuts and cashew 100g runny peanut butter 2 egg whites 80ml maple syrup or honey 10 drops of stevia or sweetener Optional: cinnamon or spices of choice For the compote 400g bag of frozen summer fruits 2 tbsp chia seeds Optional: stevia or sweetener drops Mix the wet ingredients together. Combine the dry ingredients. Mix together until everything is coated. AIR FRYER: Lay a sheet of parchment paper onto the air fryer. Sprinkle the granola mix using your hands in a single layer on the paper, keeping some clusters (do in batches to prevent overcrowding). Air fry in batches in a single layer at 120c for 12-17 minutes, mixing from time to time until golden and crisp. As they cool they will crisp up but I like a little chew still. Allow to cool before storing in an airtight container for up to a month. OVEN: Preheat your oven to 130c. Lay a sheet of parchment paper onto a baking tray and cook for 15-25 minutes, mixing from time to time until golden and crisp. Allow to cool before storing in an airtight container for up to a month. To make the compote simply heat the frozen fruits until defrosted and bubbling, sprinkle in the chia seeds, mix and allow to cool slightly.

Method

Mix the wet ingredients together, then combine the dry ingredients and mix together until everything is coated.

Lay a sheet of parchment paper onto the air fryer. Sprinkle the granola mix using your hands in a single layer on the paper, keeping some clusters – you may need to do this in batches to prevent overcrowding.

Air fry in batches in a single layer at 120c for 12-17 minutes, mixing from time to time until golden and crisp. As they cool they will crisp up, but they’ll still have a hint of that nice chewy texture.

To make the compote, simply heat the frozen fruits until defrosted and bubbling, sprinkle in the chia seeds, mix and allow to cool slightly.

Keep the granola in an airtight container and store for up to one month. This should make around 20 servings, all with just 160kcal, 5g of protein and only 2.6g of sugar.
