could find themselves with an unwanted problem starting to brew ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sancho penned a loan move from to in the summer 2024 window, but six months down the line, things haven’t particularly gone to plan.

After 22 appearances so far this season across all competitions, Sanco boasts just two goals – an indication that his move to the capital club hasn’t worked out as either he or would’ve expected.

His other numbers don’t make for much better reading either, with Sancho’s six assists across all competitions meaning he averages a goal contribution once every 166 minutes.

It wouldn’t present much of a problem for the Blues had the terms of his move from United not included an obligation to buy the England international at the end of the season.

While the 24-year-old is technically on loan for the 2024/25 season, will be forced to turn his temporary stay into a permanent one when the summer window opens later this year.

The exact terms of ’s obligation to buy aren’t yet known, but it’s reported by the two-time European champions will pay somewhere in the region of £20million to £25million.

And right now, should Sancho’s performances at continue to stall, it’s difficult to see how the England international properly revives his career and puts himself back in the national team picture.

But if frustrations with the attacker continue to build, it could force to sign reinforcements in the off-season, therefore moving Sancho back to square one.

Despite this, he still has the backing of manager , who was quick to praise the ex-Borussia Dortmund ace last month.

Speaking to the website in January, Maresca said: “For me he’s doing very well. I am quite surprised with Jadon, because I knew Jadon already [from seeing him at his previous clubs] and I know what I expected from him, but in terms of being consistent, he’s doing very well.

“Apart from a short part of the season when he had some problems, when he was out ill, then for the rest he has been very good.

“I expected him to do well, but for all the players doing well for a long period is not easy, and he has been doing well for a long period already. He’s doing well, now he just needs to continue going in that way.”
