Vanessa Lachey was a fan of boy bands in the ’90s — but not the one her husband Nick Lachey was a part of.
During their Feb. 10 appearance on TODAY, the couple, who co-host “Love Is Blind,” played a game where they would have to take a sip out of the show’s signature golden goblets if the statement applied to them.
During one round, Al Roker asked them to “take a sip if you were a 98 Degrees fan in the ‘90s.” Vanessa Lachey did not take a sip, which prompted Craig Melvin to exclaim, “Are you kidding me, Vanessa?!”
“Listen, I love him for him, not because I was a groupie,” she replied.
Nick Lachey chimed in, “But now, you’re a huge fan, right?”
“Huge fan,” Vanessa Lachey said, clarifying that Al asked if she was a fan in the ‘90s. “I was (an) ‘N Sync (fan),” she explained.
Surprised that the former “Total Request Live” host would say she was a fan of a rivaling boy band, Savannah Sellers quipped, “I can’t believe you just admitted that!”
“You make it seem like I was cheating on my husband!” Vanessa Lachey responded.
Nick Lachey, on his end, didn’t seem bothered by his wife’s revelation, saying, “It’s how I know she loves me for me.”
Nick Lachey continues to be part of 98 Degrees, which also includes his brother Drew Lachey, as well as Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre. The group is releasing a new album titled “Full Circle” in May and this week they are dropping a re-recording of their hit single “I Do,” just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey met on “TRL” when she hosted from 2003 to 2007. She also starred in the music video for his heartbreak ballad “What’s Left of Me.”
The pair have been married since 2011 and share three children together, sons Camden and Phoenix and daughter Brooklyn.
Back in 2018, Nick Lachey joked to TODAY.com about which 98 Degrees songs best encapsulate parenthood.
