Arizona is a state in the Southwestern region of America that shares the Four Corners region of the western USA with Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.
This latest airport horror comes after a small commuter plane that crashed in western Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome was located Friday on sea ice, and all 10 people on board were dead. The crash was one of the deadliest in the state in the last 25 years.
Rescuers were searching the aircraft’s last known location by helicopter when the wreckage was spotted, said Mike Salerno, a spokesperson for the US Coast Guard. Two rescue swimmers were lowered to investigate. “It’s hard to accept the reality of our loss,” US Senator Lisa Murkowski said during a news conference.
And it comes under two weeks since 67 people were killed when American Airlines Flight 5342 and an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided in midair near Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan National Airport on January 29, sending both aircraft into the Potomac River in the deadliest U.S. air disaster since 2001.
