The key to this hack lies in the ethylene gas naturally released by apples.

“Ethylene gas helps regulate the ripening process, which can slow sprouting in potatoes,” the specialist explained.

This process creates a natural barrier against sprouting, meaning your potatoes remain in top condition for a longer period of time.

But that’s not all – there’s even more to consider when it comes to the longevity of your potatoes.

Traditionally, potatoes were stored in a pantry or cupboard, but modern advice now suggests a different approach.
