A 34-year-old British tourist has in Tenerife, sparking concern after his phone was turned off several days ago, according to his worried family. Liam Hannigan lost contact with loved ones on February 7 while vacationing at the popular Canary Islands destination.
Liam, from the Greater Manchester area, had been staying with new friends that he had made during the trip. He initially travelled to for a holiday with his partner on December 29, but remained on the island in the months since.
His family have issued an urgent public appeal to help find him after losing contact with him on Friday. They shared the appeal on social media with the Missing Persons Tenerife group in the hopes that someone has seen him since. Mum Lynn and sister Ellie have led the effort, with Ellie telling that her messages to Liam had stopped being delivered to his phone.
Ellie said: “Normally if he wasn’t speaking to me, he’d speak to another of his sisters or our mum. Over the weekend we realised he hadn’t contacted any of us, and his friends said they hadn’t seen him since Friday morning.”

Liam is described as about 6ft 1, slim, with tanned skin, sporting a ‘Family First’ tattoo on his chest and a small ‘A’ on his wrist, usually donning a black shiny Moncler body warmer with a hood and green Croc shoes.
The family have appealed for more information after his bank card and passport were discovered with family friends at the Los Cristianos resort, despite him staying in La Asomada. His family told the M.E.N that he was staying at a property in the area – but that he also visited Los Cristianos and spent money on a travel bank card in the area.
The Foreign Office acknowledged their involvement in the missing persons appeal, stating: “We are supporting the family of a British man in Tenerife.”
Additionally, his sister Ellie said: “He’s very family orientated,” adding that his disappearance is out of character and how the family is left distressed: “He would never ever stress us out like this, it’s very unusual. My mum and step dad are flying out tomorrow.
“Even just a sighting or someone who assumes they’ve seen him could help. We just want him home.”
