Unforgotten season six is back on ITV and the final moments of the first episode saw Ram Sidhu (played by Phaldut Sharma) make an unexpected comeback. Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) arrived at the police station with some interesting insight about the body found in the marsh.
The body was identified as Gerry Cooper and police had concluded at the time that although no body was ever found, Mr Cooper had taken his own life by jumping into the Thames. The OIC on the case was jailed back in 2022 on multiple corruption charges.
Sunny knew the officer in question, Ram Sidhu, well as he had charged him himself. Ram was seen in his cell at Ashbourne Prison before the screen turned to black.
Ram Sidhu has not been seen in the series since season four, when he was introduced as a successful businessman and imminent dad-to-be. He was one of four people to have been in the car with Matthew Walsh just before he went missing and was later found dead in a freezer.
In the season four finale it was revealed Ram had been a trainee copper in the 1990s and he had colluded with the other three suspects to hide Matthew’s body.

Matthew Walsh died in the 1990s after he tripped in an allotment, knocking himself out – before the murderer found him and pushed a metal foundation pen nib through his head wound.
A few weeks prior to his disappearance he had beaten up Ram. However, it turned out that another suspect had a connection to Walsh.
Dean, a dodgy businessman who had been making mysterious trips to Calais, had changed his own name in order to disguise his connection to his career criminal family, and it was Dean who had killed Matthew.
Ram faced prison time as he was charged with preventing a lawful burial of a body and had also been involved in Dean’s cocaine smuggling operation.

Ram is played by Phaldut Sharma, a Welsh actor and dancer known for his roles in Gravity, Gavin & Stacey and .
He was born in the UK to Guyanese Hindu parents. One of his first roles was as Vinnay Ramdas in Casualty and he went on to star in Life on Mars and The Office.
He is also known for his stage roles in Rat Pack Confidential and Boiling Frogs.
