Coldplay frontman Chris Martin delivered a cheeky nod to during the opening ceremony on Friday night, making light of his invitation to perform.
Gracing the stage at BC Place in Vancouver, Martin expressed his gratitude to the Duke of Sussex for the invite. “When he called me, he said, ‘I’ve asked every other musician in the world. They all said no, so I had to call you,'” Martin joked.
The audience erupted into laughter as the cameras captured Harry and ‘s reaction, with the couple shaking their heads and smiling.
He then revealed his nickname for Harry, saying he said: ‘Your Royal Holiness, I’m honored.'” Chris also lauded Harry for his exemplary leadership.
“Thank you, Harry, for being such an inspiring leader and a kind, sweet man,” Martin remarked.

“I hope you have the most wonderful Games of all. It’s a pleasure to be here.”, reports . Martin serenaded the crowd with Coldplay classics like “Viva La Vida” and “Higher Power.”
and performed the Invictus Games anthem, which he penned in 2014 inspired by the “Invictus” poem. This song has become a staple at every medal ceremony since the first Invictus Games in London.
The star-studded opening ceremony also saw performances from Katy Perry, Noah Kahan, Nelly Furtado, and Roxane Bruneau.
The Parade of Nations was a highlight, with over 550 athletes from 23 countries entering the stadium to rapturous applause.

Harry, aged 40, alongside Meghan, 43, were seen enjoying the festivities from their seats, cheering on the participants. Meghan enthusiastically waved blue pom-poms and captured memories of the evening on her phone.
The couple’s appearance on the Jumbotron was met with a roar of applause. Meghan was seen affectionately rubbing Harry’s back as he acknowledged the crowd with a wave.
