isn’t known for his controversial humour – in fact, quite the opposite. The has managed to maintain a solid family following for years.

But fans over on have been doing some sleuthing to uncover his most controversial quip. It turns out it’s one that has “infuriated” some fans “for years”.

Taking to , one user said: “As a northerner, there’s a Michael McIntyre joke that has infuriated me for years… The ‘joke’ in question references how northerners don’t say the word ‘the’ and he finishes with the punchline ’T’Lion, T’Witch and T’Wardrobe’.

“Except he is wrong. The joke is sh** because he is wrong. What we actually do is shorten ‘to the’ (not just ‘the’). For example, ‘Are we going t’pub tonight?’ Anyway, my southern friends like to repeat this sh** joke and it’s plagued my mind for years.”

Someone else agreed: “This has frustrated me many a time. It’s clearly ‘lion, witch nt wardrobe’.”

Ex-boxer Tony Bellew was in the hot seat for Send to All, but before Michael sent a text to all of his contacts, he went through the apps on Tony’s phone – discovering loyalty apps for Lidl and Toby Carvery.

He had the audience tittering at the money-saving apps, which some fans found in poor taste due to the current crisis. One X user said: “What? Are the audience actually laughing at someone who likes to spend carefully, and actively looks for bargains? In this economy?”

Someone else agreed: “Turned #BigShow off. So grating. But it feels a bit sickly to be laughing at people for using loyalty apps (even though celebs can afford not to) when regular people are struggling.”
