A pedestrian was killed Sunday morning in an Abbotsford crash that police say involved a suspected impaired driver.
Officers were called to the collision shortly before 8 a.m. in the 30000-block of Harris Road.
Emergency crews found a white Dodge pickup truck with significant front-end damage after hitting a pedestrian and shearing off a power pole. First aid by witnesses and first responders couldn’t save the victim.
The pickup driver was arrested at the crash site for impaired driving.
The collision is being investigated by the Abbotsford police major crime unit along with an integrated regional unit that analyzes and reconstructs crash scenes.
Harris Road was still closed early Sunday afternoon between Mount Lehman and Ross roads.

Sunshine Coast crash closes highway
A stretch of highway in the Sunshine Coast was closed Saturday night after a crash that sent three people to hospital with serious injuries.
Several witnesses called Sunshine Coast RCMP around 3 p.m. that afternoon about an erratic driver in Roberts Creek. Soon after, there was a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Sunshine Coast Highway 101 between Flume and Roberts Creek roads.
Traffic was diverted Saturday night onto Lower Road and Lockyer Road in the Roberts Creek area while RCMP crash analysts investigated.
