Will Quinn Hughes play for Team USA in the 4-Nations Face-off?

Canucks mailbag: The captain is hurt. Do fans think he should play in 4-Nations if he’s healthy?

But the clues against him playing for Team USA are starting add up.

Take the Americans’ GM, Bill Guerin. Guerin made an appearance on Minneapolis radio station Saturday KFAN — he’s also GM of the Minnesota Wild, in case you live under a rock — and was asked about the status of Hughes for the upcoming “best on best” tournament.

“I don’t think it would be fair for me to comment,” Guerin said, according to The Athletic’s Mike Russo. “He’s going through something right now. I really don’t feel comfortable commenting on that.”

Tocchet is slated to speak today at 1:30 p.m., where he’ll surely have more to say on the status of Hughes, the defending Norris Trophy winner as the NHL’s best defenceman.

More to come …
