Netflix is set to welcome the popular black comedy series, Sick Note, into its repertoire on Monday, February 10. The show, which first aired in 2017 on Sky One, stars Harry Potter icon Rupert Grint and Nick Frost as Daniel Glass and Dr Iain Glennis.

Despite a second series being commissioned before the first had even aired, the show’s anticipated success didn’t materialise, and a third season never came to pass. In 2021, creator Nat Saunders described the series as “neither recommissioned or cancelled, just in TV show limbo”.

He also expressed doubt about its return, stating: “I’m gonna take a wild guess and say it’s most likely not coming back.”

Co-writer James Serafinowicz shared similar sentiments, revealing they “wrote the first 2 episodes of season 3 but nothing ever happened”. His tweet further read: “I don’t even know if they were read”, before adding: “I think it’ll be forever be unresolved unfortunately.”

The plot revolves around insurance agent Daniel Glass who, after being wrongly diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer, notices people treating him better and decides to maintain the lie.

This leads to a web of lies and secrets that he and his doctor must keep up, each benefiting from the ongoing deception.

Eager viewers have taken to to express their feelings about the series, with one eager fan sharing: “I haven’t had this much fun watching a show in a while. Every episode almost ends with a cliff hanger (which I would’ve HATED if I saw it originally air weekly), but binging it was a lot of fun.”

User Iamstephano chimed in: “I thought it was pretty funny most of the time, if the episodes were longer it probably wouldn’t work as well, it’s pretty easy to binge a bunch of episodes without it becoming stale.”

Meanwhile, MandyPandyxox commented: “I’m glad someone else here liked it! I just finished watching it and thought it was hilarious with all the ridiculous twists and turns it takes.”

Another avid watcher remarked: “I like the ridiculousness of it and its dark dark humour. I didn’t expect the fate of some characters. I was totally thinking this show would be episodic but it’s super suspenseful and kept getting more addictive.”

Finally, ConfusedGrasshopper weighed in: “Yeah so damn bingable! It’s one of those shows I find myself pausing all the time because I cant take the suspense.”

Unfortunately for fans in the US looking to get their fix on , the cult favourite series will no longer be available as it was pulled from the US streaming site back in November 2023.
