ITV Saturday Morning chaos as James Martin hits out at guest after fire breaks out

turned fiery when guest chef Richard Corrigan accidentally set a pan ablaze, much to the shock of the presenter.

While demonstrating how to whip up a delicious pancetta soup for ITV viewers, Richard caused quite the stir as he struggled with a flaming pan on James’ wood-burning stove.

As they chatted over the , Richard placed the overheated pan on wooden logs, causing the oil he poured in to ignite.

James, 52, could only watch in alarm, cautioning: “Don’t try this at home,” as Richard attempted to douse the flames.

“Never panic,” he quipped before covering the fire with a lid.

After the ordeal, which included singeing one of James’ tea towels, Richard carried on with his cooking.

James later teased about his now discoloured towel, remarking: “Look what you’ve done to my tea towel!”

Undeterred, Richard completed his dish, earning acclaim from James who cheekily requested: “Before you go can I have my tea towel,” adding with a laugh: “I’ve been Corrigan-ed.”

This isn’t the first time James has experienced a fire as following a disastrous mishap with a “gigantic” blast from his homemade Italian pizza oven.

Speaking on Simon Rimmer’s Grilling podcast, the celebrity chef explained how the fiery incident began.

The former Saturday Kitchen star disclosed: “I set my side of my house on fire. That was a good one because… I mean, I love builders and particularly… a certain group of Irish builders, who are fantastic, that decided to build an Italian pizza oven roof.”

He continued: “Instead of having metal, [they] built it out of wood, which is quite handy. Next minute, there was an almighty bang. It was like, honestly, it was [a] huge explosion, and you get bits of lamb chops, pork chops, sausages flying over the top of this house. It was massive.

“There was an air gap in the brickwork, and it basically overheated and exploded – the whole thing – with my dad stood next to it. The image that I’ve got is just chops going about 20-30 feet in the air. It was hilarious.”

Despite the dramatic events, James assured that nobody was hurt in the chaos. In a comedic twist, James mentioned that they even collected the scattered food to continue their festivities.
