Dom Aldworth, head of brand marketing at  said: “In the event that you win on a game show, it’s likely that you’ll take home a prize or pot of money. The sum that is up for grabs on game shows has increased in recent years, and according to our research, the highest cash prizes in the UK can be won on Limitless Win and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

“The names of the programmes hint at the available jackpot, with contestants able to win an unlimited amount of money on Limitless Win, with £1 million being the highest amount won so far, and £1 million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

“The possibility of winning large sums of money and the potential to drastically change the contestants’ lives have drawn viewers to game shows for decades. Prize money typically comes from one of two sources: an advertising sponsor or the network’s budget directly. Game shows are relatively inexpensive to produce and generate a substantial sum of advertising revenue.”
