Illinois governor JB Pritzker decided to troll Donald Trump’s plan to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” with a devious plan of his own.
On Friday, Pritzker posted a (probably) satirical video on social media where he announced a plan to change the name of Lake Michigan to Lake Illinois.
“The world’s finest geographers, experts who study the Earth’s natural environment, have concluded a decades-long council and determined that a great lake deserves to be named after a great state,” Pritzker began.
“So today, I’m issuing a proclamation declaring that hereinafter, Lake Michigan shall be known as Lake Illinois. The proclamation has been forwarded to Google to ensure the world’s maps reflect this momentous change.”
The announcement seems to have been intended to mock Trump, who said last month that he wants the Gulf of Mexico to now be called the “Gulf of America,” because “it’s ours.”
But Pritzker wasn’t finished with his geographical declarations.
In response to Trump’s December declaration that he wants the U.S. to buy and control Greenland, Pritzker said his state “will now be annexing” Green Bay, Wisconsin, “to protect itself against enemies, foreign and domestic.”
NBC Chicago noted that Pritzker’s cheeky Green Bay comment was a reference to the fact that the Packers are considered the Chicago Bears’ biggest rival.
But Pritzker had more plans for annexation.
“I’ve also instructed my team to work diligently to prepare for an important announcement next week regarding the Mississippi River,” he said. “God bless America and bear down.”

HuffPost reached out to the White House for comment, but no one immediately responded.
However, Trump’s proposal to rename the Gulf is getting mixed reviews.
Although Google agreed to go along with the name change, Britain announced it will not, angering Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in the process.
