Europe’s ‘most romantic holiday’ with pretty ‘diamond beach’ – perfect for Valentine’s Day

But avoiding busy restaurants and Valentine’s clichés is high on the priority list for many.

If you’re hoping to get away to somewhere more romantic and without the crowds, Iceland could make the perfect break.

According to , Diamond in Iceland is the most romantic spot in Europe and second most romantic in the world.

Located in southern , the dark black sand beaches make a fascinating place to visit.

Huge blocks of ice wash ashore from the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and glimmer in the sun.

You can even take a boat tour weaving through icebergs to the mouth of the glacier. 

It will certainly be a memorable and special experience to spend with the person you love.

One visitor on who visited the beach said: “This is one of the more famous sights in Iceland. 

“The black sand and the giant pieces of ices that look like diamonds make this place quite special. 

“You can walk around the beach and enjoy the view out to the water as well as the ice blocks. Worth a stop here.”

Another penned: “The was cold, windy but beautiful. The black sand made the pieces of glacier shine in the sunshine. 

“One of the most I have ever seen. We had a piece of ice for our drinks later in the evening. It was displayed on our hotel bar.”

To get to the beach, you’ll need to get to the foot of the Vatnajökull Glacier and National Park.

You can travel from Reykjavik to Diamond which is around 233 miles away. Driving will take around four and a half to five hours.

Or, you can travel from Hofn which is around 50 miles away. The travel time from Hofn to Diamond Beach is significantly shorter, typically around one to one and half hours away.
