has been dubbed a “fighter” by ex-courtiers in a revealing new book.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has been subject to criticism ever since she first started dating in 2016, with this having progressively increased since the pair quit royal life in 2020 – less than two years after their star-studded Windsor wedding.
While Meghan has been the subject of various damning accusations, she has now been defended in Tom Quinn’s new book Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants.
, Quinn said that Meghan is likely to have felt looked down on by royal courtiers when she married into the Royal Family, which she tried to fight back against.
In a serialisation for , Quinn wrote: “Some people can cope with this — Kate Middleton is perhaps the supreme example — but others try to fight back, which is what Meghan clearly did.”

He wrote: “’You’ve got to hand it to her,’ a former member of her staff said. ‘She really is a fighter.'”
According to the new book, which former ex staff members at the Palace have helped shape, the duchess was not a fan of the hierarchy and wanted to “change the status quo”.
However, Meghan, 43, reportedly “felt constrained by protocol” and wasn’t used to having everything done for her by staff.
Meghan herself has spoken about her struggles with royal life and royal protocol after she quit the Royal Family along with husband in 2020.

In the docuseries Harry and Meghan, released in 2022, Meghan claimed she experienced various restrictions when she joined the family.
The Duchess of Sussex said her royal life was like a “bubble”.
She said on the series: “And you do as you’re told, but your world just becomes more and more like this.”
The duchess then moved her hands close together to indicate things becoming smaller.
