There’s an easy way to completely prevent having that annoying experience of meat your cooking get stuck to the pan.
No this professional’s simple trick isn’t an expensive or olive oil – it is way simplier than that.
Chef Mike who runs Detroit 75 Kitchen in is an expert when it comes to meats as he spends his time dishing up the “best sandwiches in the world” from his family operated sandwich shop.
Therefore, his advice is definitely one to follow and he says all you need it a bit of water to prevent that stick.

In a video he posted on of the “kitchen hack”, he displays himself actually testing out his advice. Holding a steel pan to the camera he starts off by saying “how to use your pan for searing without any sticking.”
The chef then splashes some water on the heated pan. He said: “First use a little water, when it starts evaporating like that it’s not ready. This what you want.” Demonstrating the process, the video closes in on the water steaming up as the chef waits for it to get exactly how it is needed for the trick to work efficently.
“This is what you want, when it starts moving around like this, like mercury, ready to go,” he continued to explain.
Chef Mike also warned his over 200,000 followers about the reason to use water instead of oil, adding: “You have to be careful. This is why you have to use water to test it, not oil. If you use oil to test it and the pan is too hot you’ll get yourself into a f***ing mess.”

Once his pan was heated, he went in with some oil and added the meat to the pan and continued to sear it. “No sticking,” he said, as he lifted the piece of chicken. “Look at this… This will work on any pan, you can use any meat you want.”
The video bagged over 220,000 likes, 28,000 saves and 564 comments. One viewer said: This helped a lot thank you,” with another one sharing “I finally used this technique for my eggs this morning!!!”
Though some in the comments were concerned that the sizzling hot pan would burn their food, which the chef highlighted that the method is used for searing meat rather than cooking it through. If you would like to continue cooking in the same pan you can lower the heat.
