The Welsh Potting Machine was giving some golfing tips to his son, when he recoiled after the ball flew back off a practice shot and hit the 49-year-old.
Williams Snr posted CCTV footage of the incident on social media, explaining: “This is what happens when you try and give your boy some tips at golf ffs, my jaw is killing.”
He also added “luckily it wasn’t my eye” which could have seriously damaged his sporting career and upcoming chances at next week’s Welsh Open.
The three-time world champion did confirm that he was “fine” to relieve supporters’ concerns, but has a “nice lump” for his troubles.
Williams is next scheduled to play at his home tournament, the Welsh Open, before travelling to Yushan in China to compete at the World Open.

This time though, any potential injury could be blamed on his son’s swing. Williams and his wife Joanne have three sons, Connor, Kian and Joel, with the latter a budding snooker star in his own right.
Regularly accompanying his dad to tournaments, Connor played at the European Championships in the Under-16 category last year, despite being just 11 at the time.
His father has already cast doubt on playing in Llandudno next week, unrelated to the golf incident, as he plans to limit his schedule going forward.
