have reportedly struck up a secret transfer agreement with Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso.
The Blues spent big in the recent winter window, splashing close to £200million on four new faces.
Vitor Reis (£30m), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33m), Omar Marmoush (£67m) and Nico Gonzalez (£50m) all penned moves to the champions, but had things worked out differently, they might’ve welcomed Cambiaso as well.
That’s because , but a deal between the outfit and Juventus failed to materialise.
City are still believed to be interested in making a move, with a report from hinting the English outfit could revive their interest after this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States.
’s side, according to the report, will look to add a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker into their squad this summer, having allowed the veteran defender to join AC Milan last month.
Reviving their interest in Cambiaso shouldn’t present too many problems for City either, given they are said to have agreed a deal with the Italian outfit during the recent window.
As per the outlet, City and Juventus had agreed to a £50million transfer, but Cambiaso’s move to the Etihad Stadium didn’t go through because they opted to focus spending elsewhere.

All eyes will now be fixed on the summer window and whether City return for the versatile 24-year-old.
It’s not like City were left wanting in the January window though, given the additions they ended making in the market.
Commenting on his side’s transfer business, Guardiola said: “The club decided to bring in an extra player in the final third with talent, scoring, running, assists, set pieces.
“I think except for Aymeric Laporte, we never went to winter transfer. Always we want to go to the end but it’s an exceptional situation, this season is exceptional for many things. We should intervene to finish the season as best as possible.”

On the impact they’ll make, he added: “Players don’t come for six months, they come for four, five, six years if everything is going well. That’s why we went there. Financially we are stable from last seasons, now we are in net profit for the past five seasons.
“Financially the club has moved well in the last five years, in terms of sales and players making an incredible performance to win what we won.”
