Removing from delicate materials such as tiles and shower glass can be difficult, as using the wrong product can cause scratches and long-term damage.

Tiles in walk-in showers tend to be most prone to limescale stains, especially if you have darker tiles.

“It’s one of those things that sneaks up on you, but with a few simple tricks, it’s easy to manage,” she added.

Ms Kutner’s go-to solutions involve using two natural items you likely already have at home: and .

She explained: “Vinegar is another go-to. I mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle and use it on tiles, shower screens, and toilets. Spray it on, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and wipe it down.

“Baking soda is great for tougher spots. I’ll make a paste with a little water, spread it on the limescale, and let it sit before scrubbing.”

However, she said regular maintenance is key when it comes to managing limescale. She suggested wiping down taps and tiles with a vinegar solution every week or so to keep on top of the problem.

Henrique Conceicao, area manager at , is well-versed in diverse cleaning challenges and also suggested using vinegar and baking soda to tackle limescale on shower screens and tiles.

He said: “Shower screens often present a challenge, especially when limescale is visible. Mix equal parts vinegar and water, spray it on the affected spots, and then scrub with baking soda.

“Use gentle circular motions when scrubbing to avoid scratches on the surface, treating it as you would any delicate cleaning task.”

Cleaning expert Manish Jain, the founder of the , also suggested using natural methods to tackle shower screen limescale.

However, in addition to vinegar, he claimed that lemon juice and black tea can remove limescale and give the shower glass a “streak-free finish.”

He said: “Lemon and vinegar can be combined to create a cost-effective cleaning spray solution. Once mixed, spray onto the glass, leave for 10 minutes and wipe with a clean and dry cloth.

“This hack works because both ingredients are packed with natural acids which are able to get rid of watermarks.

“Alternatively, black tea bags can be used for streak-free finishes. Allow the liquid to cool, and use it to wipe down surfaces before buffing with a dry cloth. Tea bags contain tannins which break down soap.”

Mr Jain said it’s best to avoid using abrasive scrubbing pads on shower screens as this can scratch shower glass.
