Emmerdale is gearing up for a dramatic series of episodes next week as an ice disaster puts lives at risk. Earlier this year, the soap teased viewers with several flash-forwards, one of which showed a mysterious hand trapped under an icy lake.
More information about the ice stunt has been revealed, with a limousine carrying some villagers set to crash into the lake next week, leaving several lives in jeopardy. has now released two eerie promotional videos giving a first glimpse of the chilling February plotlines.
The initial trailer, unveiled on Friday 7 February, depicts a Valentine’s Day celebration turning into a nightmare, keeping viewers on tenterhooks. The spine-chilling teaser shows a red heart-shaped helium balloon floating from The Woolpack and landing on an icy lake, where a solitary hand can be seen trapped beneath the ice, desperately scratching at the surface.
The forthcoming second trailer will showcase ‘s most daring ice sequence yet, featuring a nail-biting scene where two limousines filled with villagers crash, with one car ending up stranded on a frozen lake, threatening to plunge through the ice.
Producer, Laura Shaw, divulged: “We wanted to create something that would really grab our audience’s attention and hint at the scale of what’s coming. These promos perfectly capture the tension and suspense of our February storylines”, reports .

One soap fan theorised on a Facebook fan page: “I’m guessing it will be Cain under the Ice. We know it’s a male with a wedding ring and they are wearing a bracelet. Frankie gave Cain a bracelet that she made.”
Another viewer noted: “Cain wears a silvery metal coloured ring… the hand under the ice was a similar colour and width also the shape of the fingers on the hand looks very much like Cain’s unfortunately.”
