Donald Trump’s team allegedly steps in as Elon Musk wanted to hire non-US citizen

was on the verge of hiring a non- US citizen to work for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — but Trump’s advisers wouldn’t let him, according to a report.

Before he was even sworn in as the 47th president, appointed to jointly lead DOGE in an effort to cut wasteful government spending. In this role, Mr Musk has been tasked with “dismantling government bureaucracy” and is a key advisor to the US president.

Throughout campaign trail, he suggested cutting nearly a third of the federal government’s $6.7trillion budget.

However, it seems the richest man in the world may have taken things too far as Trump has reportedly stepped in and prevented one of Musk’s potential hires.

Baris Akis, a Turkish-born venture capitalist is a green card holder in the US and is a close ally of Musk, but when the Tesla CEO began planning on bringing him into DOGE, he was met with a less than enthusiastic response from Trump’s advisors.

Akis is the co-founder & president of Human Capital – ‘a multi-stage venture capital firm’ which ‘build[s] and invest[s] in companies that define the world’s most critical industries,’ its website states.

The request was met with “an unequivocal no,” sources told .

Generally speaking, non-citizens are prohibited from working in the U.S. federal government.
