Death in Paradise star Shantol Jackson has teased a romance for her character Naomi Thomas as a familiar face returns to the show.
Shantol first appeared as the new Sergeant in series 11 before being promoted to Detective Sergeant a few episodes later. Naomi always dreamed of investigating complex cases and is a gifted officer, who immediately clicked with the rest of the team.
Ahead of season 14’s second episode airing tonight (February 7) on One, Shantol has given fans an exciting update on her character’s love life.
She also explained that fans will be given an insight into Naomi’s life before she moved to Saint Marie.
“A man from Saint Barnabas who she hasn’t seen in a long time makes a visit, and there’s the possibility of something being rekindled,” she said.

The actor also said that a new side to Naomi will be explored, before urging viewers to tune in to find out how her romantic escapades pan out: “You might see a more romantic side to Naomi… But you’ll have to watch the episode and see what happens.”
Shantol notably stepped into the show’s line-up after JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare) departed at the end of season 10. The actor previously addressed her return to the series, sharing her affection for the cast and crew.
“I love the fact that this is a Caribbean show and it’s a long-running Caribbean show. The fact I’m able to speak in my own dialect and I’m a part of drama set in the Caribbean, that’s what brings me back,” she shared.
“I’m adding value to something that means so much to me. I love Guadeloupe, the island and the people. I love the crew and the harmony between us all. I’m just very blessed to be a part of the Death in Paradise story.”
