An 11-year-old boy has been charged after a double stabbing.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and Mohammed Ali Saim, 20, will appear in court on Friday after a 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man were seriously injured in a stabbing in Longsight, Manchester, on Tuesday, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said.

Saim, of Aston Avenue, Manchester, and the boy, were both charged with section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon and remanded in custody, the force said.

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Rushford Street and Purcell Street shortly before 7pm on Tuesday.

Both of the injured remain in hospital in a stable condition.
