Beloved Disney series is returning after nearly a decade and fans don’t have long to wait

The Phineas and Ferb revival series is right around the corner and fans don’t have long to wait, with the new series airing this Summer on Disney Channel and Disney+.

The exciting news was announced on Thursday (6th February) by co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh.

In a statement to Variety, they shared: “Since Phineas and Ferb is essentially a celebration of summer vacation, summer is the perfect time to debut the new season.

“We have had such a great time diving back into this world and the entire cast and crew have really brought their A-game. We cannot wait to see fans’ reactions to what is shaping up to be our favourite season yet.”

News of a revival was first revealed back in 2023, with Disney Branded Television revealing the 40 episodes which are split into two seasons.

The revival will bring back Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn, David Errigo Jr. as Ferb Fletcher, Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn and Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher.

Also lending their voices once again are Dee Bradley-Baker as Perry the Platypus, Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, with Dr Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram being voiced by Dan and Swampy themselves.

The original television series debuted on Disney Channel back in 2007 and aired four seasons up until 2015.

The series follows stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb during their Summer vacation, with each day during the holidays being an excuse for the boys to construct a grand project or head out on an exciting adventure.

Creators Dan and Swampy were inspired by their own Summers during their childhoods and first conceived the characters back in the 90s while working on shows such as The Simpsons and Rocko’s Modern Life.

They developed the series together and pitched it to networks for 16 years before The Walt Disney Company decided to take it on.

It became one of Disney Channel’s most successful animated franchises, with critics praising the humour and writing of the show.

It even went as far as winning a Daytime Emmy Award in 2010 for Oustanding Writing in Animation as well as several Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

As well as the series, a made-for-television film called Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension aired in 2011, while a follow-up titled Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe released on Disney+ in 2020.
