Two former NFL stars came head-to-head in a fiery confrontation during a row on a show.

Anticipation is building ahead of the weekend’s meeting between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philidelphia Eagles.

The Cheifs are aiming for an unprecedented ‘three-peat’, having taken the Vince Lombardi Trophy in each of the previous two seasons.

For the Eagles, they’re on the search for their second Super Bowl title and a first since 2017, when they got the better of Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots in Minnesota.

Chiefs head-honcho Andy Reid will take one step closer to emulating Belichick’s all-time record as the coach with the most Super Bowl rings with a victory on Sunday.

But it was on a Super Bowl warm-up show, Nightcap, where the drama started to be ramped up, with ex-NFL stars Chad Johnson and James Harrison involved in a heated argument.

Johnson and Harrison are both scheduled to fight in an exhibition MMA bout in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl Sunday this weekend.

The fight has been pencilled in for months, but information regarding their scheduled blow has been hard to come by, with Harrison finally sharing an update while on Nightcap.

He said: “I’m not gonna lie to you, this is what happened. I got fat. I was like 308. My knee was messed up. I was there, six weeks, couldn’t move.

“So I was just sitting there eating. I knew I was real fat because I went to go tie my shoe and my stomach got in the way. And I had to move my leg to the side to get down there. So yeah.”

He admitted he was recovering from a meniscus repair and therefore wouldn’t be able to compete in the fight, but it didn’t stop the pair from hypothesising how the battle would’ve played out.

An animated Harrison said: “It ain’t about no money. Pay me right now and I’ll beat the breaks off his a**.”

Johnson asked: “Who?”

To which Harrison amusingly replied: “You.”

Later on in the show, Johnson added: “He ain’t conditioned like I am. He gonna be tired in two seconds. He’s gonna try and throw a punch… Stop saying he is gonna grab me.

“Stop saying that before I hit you in your mouth. Don’t say that no more. Because y’all disrespecting me. I don’t like that. People look at size and they determine wins and losses based off size. You saw David and Goliath right? You remember that story right? You remember what happened?”

Harrison claimed: “Neither one of us are David and Goliath.”

Johnson hit back: “This ain’t no joke. Y’all take my life for a joke. This ain’t no joke. On my kids I’m gonna f*** you up. I put that on my kids. You know I don’t play about my kids. I got 200 of them. I’m gonna show you in the octagon I’m good.”

No plans for the fight to be rearranged have been made yet.
