To which Kris astonishingly replied: “Oh, my God. You know I knew those guys in the ’80s. I knew the kids because Erik used to come over and play tennis with your dad on the weekends.” Kim further revealed her personal tie to the notorious saga: “I remember my dad talking about the case and I remember the whole case growing up in Beverly Hills, that’s where we were.
“The trial, I think, happened when I was, like, 13 so there were big cases that I would love to talk to my dad about. And so this was one of them. Now, being older and seeing it from a different lens, 35 years later, and knowing what I know now about the system, I just have a whole different outlook on it.”

Erik and Lyle Menendez were sentenced to life imprisonment
Lyle and Erik were accused of the 1989 murder of their parents, but they both insisted they acted in self-defence after enduring years of emotional and sexual abuse from their father. However, their claims were dismissed in their second trial and they were handed life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Kim visited the brothers in jail following the release of the documentary and argued that Lyle and Erik deserve another chance and their life sentences should be re-evaluated.
In a heartfelt note she shared with NBC in October 2024, the mother-of-four wrote: “I don’t believe that spending their entire natural lives incarcerated was the right punishment for this complex case. Had this crime been committed and tried today, I believe the outcome would have been dramatically different.”
