‘s work in the Firm has been described with three words as author of a new book claims that the 43-year-old “felt constrained”.
The Duchess of Sussex, who officially joined the Royal Family in May 2018, now resides in California with husband after stepping down from royal duties in early 2020.
For his new book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, author Tom Quinn spoke to several royal staff to gain an insight in Meghan’s past in the Firm.
Although one former member of staff is said to have positively referred to Meghan as a “fighter” in a serialisation by , the book described her work in the Firm in three words – “moderniser by nature”.
The book, which is set to be released on February 18, shares that Meghan is “someone who wanted to get things done and change the status quo” but that she was not aware of how things were run within the palace.

In his book, Mr Quinn also wrote that Meghan “felt constrained by protocol” and wasn’t used to having everything done for her by staff.
In defence of Meghan, another source told the book: “They [the older, public school-educated advisers] really had it in for Meghan and, to be fair to her, she really stood up to them.
“But, of course, if you make waves in the Royal Family, the senior royals will always back the courtiers, because in many cases the senior royals have been friends with the courtiers since childhood.”

The couple will join singer Katy Perry at the Invictus Games opening ceremony at BC Place Vancouver on February 8.
According to a well-placed source, Meghan made the decision to join Harry after PR firm Three Gate Strategies took over the couple’s communications earlier this month with a new direction.
It remains unknown whether their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, will be in attendance with their parents.
