The Dog House has left TV viewers delighted after returning to screens with a seventh series.

The popular Channel 4 programme made a return last month, and the second instalment of the new series is set to air on Thursday, February 6.

While the first episode of the seventh series saw poodle-cross Lola meet five-year-old Violet in heart-warming scenes, the second episode sees The Dog House reach a huge milestone.

In Thursday’s instalment, viewers see The Dog House – which began airing back in 2019 – home its 100th dog in touching scenes.

The 100th dog is Buttercup, a Cockapoo who was found on the streets when she was just a year old. Initially incredibly nervous around humans, Buttercup was eventually cleaned up and looked after by the team at Wood Green.

She went on to find a happy, forever home with couple Gordon, 78, and Sally, 74, who hail from Taunton, Somerset.

The episode also features Coco the dachshund, who must overcome her nerves as she meets 25-year-old Liv. Elsewhere, toddler Sam seeks a playmate.

The Dog House is filmed at Woodgreen Pets Charity in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, with the team at the charity working to turn around abandoned dogs’ lives.

Channel 4 describes the programme as “the dog dating show where people and dogs are matched and – hopefully – fall in love.”

The show has proven to be hugely popular with TV fans and critics alike. The Guardian branded The Dog House “feelgood TV at its fluffiest” in a review, while The Daily Telegraph said the programme was “the most charming – and emotional – show on TV.”

The programme is now streamed in the US via HBO, with an Australian edition and celebrity spin-off having also been released.

The Dog House is on Channel 4 at 8pm on Thursdays.
